We explain vision simply: diagnosis, prevention and daily eye comfort
BINOCULAR materials help to quickly understand complex topics: when to go for an examination, how to protect a child’s vision, what the examination means and which symptoms should not be postponed.
Glasses in winter are a small challenge that can easily be turned into comfort!
Winter — it’s not just about warm clothes and hot tea. This is also the season when glasses live a dramatic life of their own: sometimes fogged up, sometimes covered with snow, sometimes glinting from the sun, which suddenly decided to remind us of itself.
A few tips to maintain comfort and visibility when it’s cold outside:
• The transition from cold to warm is the main culprit of fogging. A smooth “acclimatization” mode helps: keep the glasses in a case in a pocket under your outer clothing so they don’t cool down too much.
• Misting sprays are a little winter hack. They create a thin film on the lenses that reduces condensation.
• If wearing a mask, direct the air downwards. A mask with a hard nose wire or special inserts prevents warm air from rising to the glasses.
• In winter, the sun is low and contrasty, so glasses with photochromic or polarized lenses will help you see the road more clearly.
• Snow and icy wind make the eyes more sensitive. The glasses also work as a mini-shield and reduce irritation.
Take care of your eyes and enjoy every winter day with maximum clarity!

Modern vision diagnostics in BINOCULAR – RTVue XR Avanti optical tomograph
In our center, an examination is available on one of the most modern devices – OCT RTVue XR Avanti (Optovue, USA).
Its opportunities:
• Fast and safe obtaining of sections of eye structures
• Visualization of retinal vessels and optic nerve without contrast agents (OCT-Angiography)
• 3D reconstruction of the studied areas
• Accurate assessment of corneal thickness, epithelium and condition of the optic nerve
• Indispensable in the diagnosis of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular diseases
The examination is absolutely painless, takes a few minutes and allows you to detect the disease in its early stages.

Diabetes can “hit” the eyes
Diabetes — it’s not just about the glucose level. One of the most common complications is diabetic retinopathy — damage to retinal vessels. At first, it may not cause symptoms, but over time it leads to blurred vision, the appearance of “spots”, and sometimes even to complete blindness.
The risk increases with the duration of diabetes, poor blood sugar and blood pressure control. That is why it is important to regularly check the fundus even when “vision is still normal”.
Modern diagnostics
Today, ophthalmologists have technologies that help detect changes at an early stage.
In our center we use RTVue XR Avanti optical tomograph with AngioVue module:
• the study takes several minutes;
• provides a detailed image of the retina and blood vessels without the use of dyes;
• allows you to track even the smallest changes over time.
The earlier the problem is detected, the greater the chance of saving vision.
If you or your loved ones have diabetes, don’t delay!
Schedule an eye exam at least once a year, even if you think “everything is fine.”

“Glaucoma is the silent thief of vision”
Glaucoma — one of the most dangerous eye diseases. It damages the optic nerve and can lead to permanent vision loss or even blindness.
The most insidious thing is that in the early stages, glaucoma has almost no symptoms. A person can see straight ahead, but gradually loses peripheral vision – until “tunnel vision” remains.
Who is at risk?
• people over 40 years old;
• those who have relatives with glaucoma;
• patients with increased intraocular pressure;
• people with diabetes, hypertension, severe myopia.
What to do?
The only way to detect glaucoma in time is regular eye examination.
In the center BINOCULAR we spend complex diagnostics, including:
• intraocular pressure measurement;
• field of vision research;
• examination on modern RTVue XR Avanti OCT for a detailed assessment of the state of the optic nerve and retina.
It is important: the earlier it is detected, the better the chance to save vision!

Black and white books for babies
You knew what first books are they created specifically in black and white colors for babies?
This is not accidental!
In the first months of life child’s vision only is formed.
Babies do not yet distinguish colors and small details, but they respond perfectly to contrasting images.
Large, clear shapes help the baby focus attention, train vision, and stimulate brain development.
And when you show the child pictures and talk to him at the same time, it strengthens the emotional contact and promotes the development of speech.
That is why black and white books are the best first step into the exciting world of books for your little one.
Are you pregnant or have a baby up to a year old?
It’s time to take care of your eyesight!
