BINOCULARComprehensive eye exam for adults in Brovary
A comprehensive adult eye exam at BINOCULAR costs from UAH 800. The doctor checks how clearly you see, examines the health of your eyes and explains the findings in plain language. The tests are chosen for your symptoms and medical needs, not from a fixed template. If a closer look is needed, a retinal OCT scan is done right here at the center, with no trip to Kyiv.
What the exam includes
First the doctor asks about your symptoms, how much you use your eyes day to day, and whether you wear glasses or contact lenses. Then the doctor checks your vision and eye health:
- visual acuity, meaning how sharply you see at a distance and up close;
- refraction on an automated instrument (keratorefractometry), to find nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism;
- eye pressure (tonometry), one of the key measurements for catching glaucoma early;
- the front of the eye under a slit lamp, including the eyelids, cornea and lens;
- the back of the eye, including the retina, its blood vessels and the optic nerve head.
If more detail is needed for an accurate conclusion, the doctor adds an OCT scan of the retina and optic nerve on our RTVue XR Avanti tomograph, pachymetry, computerized perimetry or dry eye tests. All of this equipment is here in Brovary, so you do not have to go to another clinic for further tests.
At the end the doctor explains the results in plain language and recommends what to do next. Sometimes a routine follow-up is enough, and sometimes you will need glasses, another test or treatment.
When to have your eyes checked
Vision usually gets worse gradually, and people get used to the discomfort. Book an exam if you notice any of the following:
- text up close or in the distance looks less sharp than before;
- your eyes tire quickly after using a phone or computer, or after reading;
- you get headaches after close work;
- you have to squint to make out details;
- your eyes feel dry or gritty, or they burn;
- your glasses no longer give you the clarity they used to.
A routine check is useful even without symptoms, because a doctor often notices changes before the patient does. After 40 it is worth having your vision and eye pressure checked regularly, even if nothing bothers you. If you have diabetes or glaucoma runs in your family, the doctor will advise how often to come back.
When not to wait. Sudden loss of vision, a curtain or shadow across your sight, flashes of light, eye pain or an eye injury should be seen as soon as possible. Call +380 97 729 45 05, as the center provides emergency eye care (from UAH 500). The doctor will examine the eye urgently and, if surgery is needed, refer you to a hospital. If a chemical gets into your eye, rinse it straight away with clean running water for 15-20 minutes and do not rub it. If the situation is serious, call an ambulance on 103.
How much an eye exam costs
A comprehensive adult exam costs from UAH 800. The final cost depends on the scope of the exam, and the administrator will confirm it before your visit.
Children and teenagers under 18 have a separate comprehensive exam from UAH 600, and on Sundays children are seen without an appointment. A comprehensive eye exam during pregnancy costs from UAH 1,200. The full list of services and prices is on the Services page.
What to bring
To help the doctor get a clear picture quickly, bring:
- the glasses you currently wear (for distance and for reading);
- your contact lens case and lens details (brand and power), if you wear lenses;
- reports from previous eye exams and your glasses prescription, if you have them;
- a list of the medicines you take regularly, including eye drops.
If the doctor needs to dilate your pupils with drops, your vision will be blurry and your eyes sensitive to light for a few hours. It is best not to drive to the exam, and sunglasses help.
Who performs the exam
Both of the center’s doctors see adult patients. Yaroslava Dobrytsia, head of the center, is an ophthalmologist of the highest qualification category and holds a PhD in Medicine, with 30 years of experience and more than 100 scientific publications. Iryna Sydorenko is a pediatric ophthalmologist who sees both adults and children, so the whole family can come to one place.
